Aryabhatta(ad 486-550) was the greatest mathematician-astronomer of india. He was born at 'Muziris' a small village near trissur. he went to kusumapura for higher studies and he lived there
aryabhatta is major works were the aryabhatiyam and the aryabhatta sidhanta. aryabhatiyam presented ba number of innovations in mathematics and asronomy in verse form. His disciple were Bhaskara i and nilakantha somayaji. He was the first mathematician to letters of the
alphabet to denote nuknown quantities. Aryabhata's systemm of asronomy was called the Audayaka system.
